DevSweep is a Windows desktop application that helps you reclaim disk space from developer caches and other folders. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information, and is written to be verifiable against how the app actually behaves.
The short version: DevSweep runs entirely on your computer and sends nothing anywhere. No account, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers. It makes no network connections of its own, so there is no personal information to collect, transmit, or sell.
What the app reads
To do its job, DevSweep reads information about the files and folders on your drives:
- File and folder names, sizes, locations, and timestamps — so it can measure how much space each cache or folder is using and show you where your disk space has gone.
- Whether certain developer tools are present (for example, Docker, the Android SDK, npm) — so it can offer the caches that apply to your machine.
- Basic facts about the running app and your system — the app version, .NET runtime, installed WebView2 version, and whether the app is running with administrator rights. These are shown to you in the app's About panel so you can verify what you are running.
All of this is read on your device, used only to display information and carry out actions you choose, and never sent off your device.
What the app stores
DevSweep stores one thing: your interface preference (such as light or dark theme), saved locally on your device so the app remembers it between launches. It keeps no history of what you scanned or deleted, writes nothing to the Windows Registry for configuration, and creates no logs that leave your computer.
What the app deletes
DevSweep never deletes anything on its own. Every deletion is something you explicitly select and confirm, after the app shows you the exact paths and the total size first. Deleting files is an action you take with the app; it is not data the app collects.
No third-party data sharing
Because DevSweep makes no network connections, there is nothing to share. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking components in the app.
About WebView2
DevSweep draws its interface using Microsoft Edge WebView2, a standard Windows component, loading only files bundled inside the app — it does not browse the web or load remote content. WebView2 itself is a Microsoft product and may, as part of Windows, contact Microsoft for its own updates or security, independently of DevSweep. That behaviour is governed by Microsoft's privacy statement.
Children
DevSweep is a developer utility and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same location with a new effective date.
